Limnologist

Limnology is the scientific study of the physical and biological features of freshwater bodies of water. It is a specialized area of biological science, which is the study of living organisms and their relationship to their environment. A limnologist is a type of aquatic biologist who only deals with fresh, inland waters. These could include everything from lakes and rivers to creeks, swamps, and even wetlands.

A limnologist might specialize in a certain type of freshwater environment, such as flowing water or stagnant water. They might also focus their studies on a particular type of creature within these environments, such as macroinvertibrates or fish. These professionals might also focus on water quality. They may deal more with the chemistry and toxicology of the water instead of animal-habitat interactions. There is also room for specialization in policy making. People are needed to help lawmakers decide wise uses for freshwater habitats without harming the ecosystem.
