Greenskeeper

Workers who maintain golf courses and athletic fields, such as football and baseball fields are called greenskeepers. Golf course greenskeepers periodically relocate the holes on putting greens to eliminate uneven wear of the turf and to add interest and challenge to the game. They also keep canopies, benches, ball washers, and tee markers repaired and freshly painted. An Athletic field greenskeeper’s duties are to prepare the fields for the games. This may consist of replacing sod, fertilizing, removing weeds, raking and applying pesticides to the fields.

Greenskeeper and Groundskeeper careers are very similar except that a Greenskeeper is someone who works mostly on golf courses or athletic fields. A Groundskeeper is a person who maintains facilities such as cemeteries, university campuses and parks. As a greenskeeper for a football field, the football coach is going to rely heavily on you to maintain his sod so his team will have an advantage on their home field. If the grass is cut low , the players can run faster, but if the grass is cut high, it will slow down the runners. Cutting the grass high or low can make all the difference in the game of football.
