Agritourism Manager

Agricultural tourism is fast becoming an important part of the agriculture industry. This sector includes outdoor recreation, educational experiences, entertainment, agricultural sales, accommodations, and more. Examples of operations within agritourism include petting zoos, exotic animal farms, school tours, road-side stands, and farm or ranch vacations.

An agritourism manager owns and/or operates a business directed towards serving and educating the public. Agritourism managers are responsible for developing a business plan to run their operation. They may serve as a tour guide for groups visiting their operation. As the manager, it is necessary that one is familiar with all aspects of the operation and that they pay attention to the details.

This fledging component of the agriculture industry has great potential for many agriculture entrepreneurs with a creative flair. Americans, most generations removed from the farm, have developed a renewed interest in farm and ranch life and are willing to pay for the experiences provided through agritourism.
