SAE: Develop a stocker cattle operation
Description:
A stocker cattle project is best suited for students who have their own cow-calf operations or who have expertise in purchasing feeder calves.  A good knowledge is required in animal health, marketing, and management for this project to be a success.  Experienced cattlemen will you tell you that there is more profit in growing cattle from 400 to 700 pounds than any other phase of the cattle industry.  The potential for financial return is good especially when calf prices are low.  Cattle facilities are a must along with good pasture and stored feed.
